Peter Krause, Director of Golf, resides in Bluffton, SC and oversees daily golf instruction for the Hank Haney IJGA. Peter has a long list of accomplishments as a golf instructor including his award as 2005 PGA National Teacher of the Year.

How long have you been with Hank Haney IJGA?

I began in August of 2008.

What do you enjoy most about working with the students at Hank Haney IJGA?  As much as I love the challenge of helping the kids develop a swing and golf game that will help them be successful down the road, I equally love the challenge of teaching the kids to become responsible for the improvement of their own games and using golf as a means to teach them the core values in life they will need to be a successful person.

What is your favorite moment as a golf instructor?

My favorite moment is when the kid gets what I am teaching them, whether it is a physical move in their swings or making an impact in their lives and developing attitudes that are consistent to success.

Who are your mentors and why?

My primary mentor is obviously Hank Haney.  He has not only taught me the basics of the game and how to teach them, but has also shown me how to be an all around coach as well.  And, my parents, they taught and instilled me the values in life that are necessary to be successful.

What makes Hank Haney IJGA more special than other junior golf academies?

I don't know what other Academies offer, but, I do know that we have the finest trained staff of teachers in the business.  Everyone is on the same page in regards to what we teach and how we teach it.  Along with that, the compassion and dedication we devote to each student is the best in the business.

What are you currently focusing on with Hank Haney IJGA students?

Just trying to get them to be better each day and for them to take responsibility for their games and lives.. it's an everyday message.

What advice do you have for an aspiring junior golf who wants to play at the collegiate level?

My advice is to develop a solid work ethic and work really hard on your short game.  College coaches do not have the time to be baby sitters. They are looking for self-motivating players who will represent their university in a positive way and work hard on their games.   The one thing that separates a good player from an average one at that level is putting and short game.
