MALLORCA, SPAIN - Hank Haney IJGA student Antonio
Ferrer (Mallorca, Spain) is competing this weekend in the European Tour event - Iberdola Open Cala Mallorca. The tournament is taking place at Pula Golf Course
in Son Servera, Mallorca, Spain. The field is very strong including four of the
top 100 players in the world. For Ferrer, this is his first professional golf
event.
In the
first round of play, Ferrer fired a 71 (one over par). He took an early lead when
he birdied the 1st, 7th, and 8th holes to
three under par into the turn. He would finish up one over par and is tied for
57th place.
Ferrer is a
local favorite for the Iberdola Open since he grew up in Mallorca. In the January
of 2010, Ferrer decided to move from Mallorca and joined the Hank Haney IJGA in
Hilton Head Island, SC.
