PALM HARBOR, FL - Hank Haney IJGA
student Stephanie Meadow (Antrim, Ireland) won the American Junior Golf
Association (AJGA) event this past weekend, held at Innisbrook Resort and Golf
Club in Palm Harbor, FL. Meadow, who has signed with the University of Alabama
for the fall 2010 season, carded rounds of 72, 69, and 70 (total of 211) to
finish at one over par. Meadow edged out Ginger Howard (Bradenton, FL) by two
strokes for the victory.
Meadow has had an impressive junior golf career including numerous
wins with the AJGA and International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT). She had 3 wins on
the IJGT last year and qualified for the U.S. Women's Amateur, U.S. Junior
Girl's, and Ladies Irish Open this year. Meadow won the AJGA Cliff's
Championship in April 2009, placed 2nd at the AJGA Girl's Championship in
September 2009, and finished tied for 13th at AJGA's final event of the year in
2009, The PING Invitational. Meadow was also named to the Rolex Junior
All-American Team by Rolex and the AJGA.
In the Boys Division, Hank Haney IJGA student Charlie Durman
(United Kingdom) won the AJGA K12 Qualifier on March 31st with
a one over round of 71 to secure a spot in the AJGA at Innisbrook later in the
week. Additional students competing in the AJGA at Innisbrook included Mickey
Werenski (South Hadley, MA), Matthew Rushton (South Africa), Michael Balzer
(Bismarck, ND), Yifan Liu (China), Miguel Solorzano (Mexico), and Chris Kim
(San Diego, CA).
In the Girls Division, Hank Haney IJGA had five students besides
Meadow who competed including Rika Park (Japan), Yuri Otsuka (Japan), Noriko
Inoue (Japan), Momo Sakuragi (Japan), and Anna Young (Canada).
