DETROIT LAKES, MN – Hank Haney IJGA Thomas Strandemo (Fargo, ND) won the 84th Minnesota State Junior Boys’ Championship yesterday, held at Wildflower at Fair Hills in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Strandemo fired rounds of 69 and 71 for a total score of 140 (4 under par). Strandemo edged out Chase Hahne and Colton Buege who both finished at 3 under par. The field included 115 of the top junior golfers from Minnesota and North Dakota. Strandemo was one of five players from North Dakota to compete in the event. As champion of this event, Strandemo was granted two separate entries into AJGA events for 2010-2011.
After the first round, Strandemo was behind Buege by one shot and in a tie for second place after shooting a round of 69 (2 under par). Strandemo battled on the second day of the event to shoot 71 (one over par) and win the 84th Minnesota State Junior Boys’ Championship.
Strandemo, a rising senior at Hank Haney IJGA, decided to make a commitment to his golf game by enrolling in the Spring 2010 semester. In 2009, Strandemo finished in 5th place and has shown a great improvement to his game since beginning his golf training at Hank Haney IJGA.
