Current IJGA student Minyi (Samantha) Huang of Shenzhen, China, recorded a second-place finish in the 19th Annual Innisbrook Easter Junior held on the Island Course at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor, Fla. The three-day, 54-hole tournament was contested on April 18-20, 2014, and consisted of 30 players in the Girls Division.
Huang started the tournament with a round of 6-over-par 78 to put her in good position. During the second round, Huang made up some ground after a score of 5-over-par 77 putting her in second place going into the final round. Playing in the final group did not phase Huang, as she played well despite windy conditions. Huang put pressure on her fellow competitors with a birdie on her 12th hole, and finished the round with a score of 5-over-par 77. Unfortunately, it was not enough for the victory as she finished two strokes behind the champion.
Huang was the only competitor in the Girls Division to shoot rounds in the 70s for all three days of the tournament. She was one of six players in the entire tournament (over 125 players) to accomplish this feat.
In the Boys Division, current IJGA student, Tennoshin Ogawa of Ichinomiya-shi, Japan, finished in 10th place with scores of 72-80-81.
