IJGA alumnus, Poom Pattaropong of Bangkok, Thailand, competed at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic with his James Madison University teammates at the Whirlwind Golf Club on the Cowboy Cattail Course from April 5-7, 2015. Pattaropong was the bright spot for the Dukes as he was the only player to finish in the top 10 and carded the best score of his team.
In the first round he shot a 1-under 71 featuring three birdies. The college junior’s round was highlighted by a stretch of 12 holes of par or better including four at the finish of the round.
During the second round, Pattaropong shaved a stroke from his game by adding four birdies, including his second straight on the par-5 hole No. 2, and the par-5 hole No. 17.
His most impressive performance came on the final day. Spearheaded by an eagle on the par-5 hole No. 12, and a front nine that featured three birdies and no scores worse than par, Pattaropong finished in a tie for 6th with a 4-under 68 score (tournament total of 209). He was only two strokes back of the tournament winner, and this marked his fourth top-10 finish of his college career.
