This past weekend three IJGA alums returned to the Hilton Head area to participate in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate contested at Long Cove Golf Club in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Stephanie Meadow (University of Alabama), Marta Sanz(Auburn University), and Regina Plasencia (University of Arkansas) all competed for their respective universities in the three-day tournament that featured many of the top NCAA programs in the country.
Meadow ended the tournament in third place finishing with a total score of 1-under-par 212. The highlight of her tournament included a 4-under-par 67 during the first round. Although her team was not able to repeat as tournament champions, Meadow claimed her third straight top-three finish in the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. In 2012 she was medalist and currently holds the record for lowest finish (5-under-par) in the three-year history of the tournament.
Sanz, came off a victory in her last college tournament, and put together another impressive showing in a field of talented college golfers. Her tournament total of 4-over-par 217 gave her a ninth-place finish in the event as she was the top performer for Auburn University.
Plasencia put together a strong finish for the Arkansas Razorbacks during the tournament. Her total score of 227 included a final-round score 0f even-par 71, that helped her team finish in seventh place for the tournament.
The IJGA is very proud of their accomplishments in this prestigious tournaments and wishes them the best of luck as the Spring season continues.
