The mission of the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy Mental Training Program is to create student-athletes with a mindset of continuous improvement through preparation, competition, and self-evaluation… resulting in a community of excellence!

The Mental Training Staff works with Hank Haney IJGA students on a daily basis to monitor and build effective habits for our student-athletes. Training includes pre-tournament preparation, post-tournament evaluation, on-course situations, and group discussions. Personalized, one-on-one mental training is also available to meet the varied needs and schedules of our student-athletes.

Meet our Mental Training Staff


Matt Cuccaro serves as Hank Haney IJGA Director of Mental Training. He received his Master’s of Education in Counseling/Sport Psychology from Boston University. Matt is an active member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP). Since joining Hank Haney IJGA in the summer of 2006, Matt has trained numerous American Junior Golf Association Rolex Junior All-Americans, IJGT champions, as well as PGA, LPGA, and Champions Tour players from across the world. Dawn Grant is a PGA Tour Credentialed Mental Trainer and works one on one with Hank Haney IJGA students. Since 2006, Grant has worked with over a dozen PGA and LPGA TOUR professional golfers. Dawn also had the privilege to work with Vijay Singh on his positive mental attitude and putting during the days prior to the 2008 FedEx Cup Playoffs, a mental shift that ultimately contributed to his two playoff wins and his earning of the 2008 FedEx Cup Championship.
