Wuensch wins first title in Girls Division
ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT) hosted the Georgia Junior at Sea Island on Aug. 24-25, 2013. The tournament, which was played on the Seaside Course (home of the PGA Tour’s McGladrey Classic), was the unofficial end of the summer schedule and the first event for many of our academy students – many of whom began training and studying with the academy just the Monday prior.
Chang Ju Lee wins the Boys 15-19 Division at the IJGT Georgia Junior
Academy students not only won each division, but represented the top finishers for each division! Chang Ju Lee, a returning student from Seoul, South Korea, took the Boys 15-19 Division, winning by 5 strokes. Sam Meuret (Brunswick, Neb.) and Daniel Oh (Seoul, South Korea) rounded out the top 3.
Jana Wuensch wins the Girls Division at the IJGT Georgia Junior
In the Girls Division, newcomer Jana Wuensch, from Herrenberg, Germany, display poise and complete dominance in her win. Her 12-strokes over the field showed she will be a force to reckon with over the course of the semester! Maggie Ashmore (Kingston, Ga.) and Sera Tadokoro (Osaka, Japan) rounded out the top 3 with respectable finishes on the tough Seaside Course.
Karl Vilips wins his first event with the IJGT at the Georgia Junior
In the Boys U-14 Division, World Champion Karl Vilips took another trophy home with his impressive 157 on the weekend. Vilips is no stranger to the junior golf world, but this was his first outing with the IJGT.
