The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) announced that Bria` Sanders, IJGA alumni, was the recipient of the 2014 Phyllis G. Meekins Scholarship. Awarded to Sanders for her academic excellence, countless hours of community service and her golf talent, the scholarship rewards a female high school seniors from a minority background who plans to pursue full-time collegiate academics and golf.
Known for her deep commitment to her academics, her persistence in improving her golf game and her selfless caring for those she could help, Sanders was repeatedly recognized in her years at IJGA and Heritage Academy, earning the School Service Award, among others.
In her four years of working on her golf game, Sanders improved her scoring average by more than six strokes and tallied a staggering 34 career top-10 finishes in IJGT tournament events, three of which were first place finishes. The combination of her strong golf game and elite academics, Sanders is en route to continue her golf career at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta.
