IJGA Students Sweep Girls Division of Low Country Junior Shootout

It was an exciting weekend of tournament competition for International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA) students and alumni! Congratulations to Yuki Nakayama, Ankita Kedlaya and Angela Aung, who swept the Girls Division of the HJGT Low Country Junior Shootout! The two-day, 36-hole event was hosted locally at Dolphin Head Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C.

Nakayama followed her 2-over 74 in round one with a 75 in round two, good for a 149 tournament total and the Girls Division title. Nakayama was most successful on the par-5 ninth hole, which she birdied in both rounds. Kedlaya finished a single stroke behind Nakayama with a 150 two-day total. Aung rounded out the Girls Division winners finishing third. Melany Chong (4th) and Meredith Langs (T6) also finished in the Top 10.

Sharad Arora (T8) and Brock Erwin (10th) recorded Top-10 finishes in the Boys 15-18 Division. Arora carded back-to-back birdies on holes No. 10 and 11 on his way to a 2-over 74 in round one.

Santiago Diaz started out the tournament strong carding an eagle–the only one of the tournament–on the par-5 first hole in round one. He birdied the first hole in round two.

Chase Phillips, the IJGA’s sole competitor in the Boys 14 & Under Division, finished fifth.

Alumni

Morgan Hoffmann tied for 11th in the PGA Tour’s Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. He fired 5-under 66s in rounds one and two and carded four consecutive birdies on holes No. 13-16 in round four. He finished the tournament at 12-under.

Shanshan Feng tied for 14th in the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship. She carded three consecutive birdies on holes No. 16-18 in round three on her way to a 5-under 67. She finished the tournament at 2-under.

Pear Siriko (Indiana) carded a career-best round (71) on Sunday in the first round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown!
