The American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) is hosting the IJGA Junior Open at Chechessee Creek Club in Okatie, S.C. On June 15, 68 boys and 23 girls competed in a qualifier to determine the remaining eight spots in the IJGA Junior Open tournament field.

IJGA students Taisuke Ono of Tokyo, Japan, and Yunjie Zhang of Haikou City, China, earned medalist honors and entry into the AJGA tournament.

Ono fired a 2-under-par 68 to earn the top spot in the Boys Division along with Spenser Slayden of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Ono recorded nine-hole scores of 34 on both the front and back nines en route to his victory. This was his personal-best score beating a 69 which he recorded two weeks earlier in an AJGA tournament.
