Vienna Winalski of West Hartford, Conn., started playing golf with her father who was already a golf enthusiast and loved it. She transferred to the IJGA full-time after joining the academy multiple times as a custom student and over breaks. Not long after, the senior committed to play college golf at Converse College where she will compete and study for the next four years.

How old were you when you started playing golf?
I was twelve when I first started to really play golf.
What is your favorite golf memory?
When I carded an eagle on a very difficult par-4 during an important tournament.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love to read books. That’s something I do a lot of.
How do you think your friends would describe your personality?
My friends would describe me as kind and smart.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
One bad decision can ruin your entire life, so choose wisely.
What motivates you?
My golf game.
What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you on the golf course?
Carding that eagle, for sure.
What aspect of your game has improved the most this year?
My short game, specifically my putting.
What are some of your favorite courses and why?
The New Haven Country club is my favorite, definitely. It was just absolutely beautiful but also just a really nice course.
What are your goals after the IJGA?
I want to be on the LPGA someday.
What advice would you give other junior golfers or other people considering the IJGA?
Just keep at it. And start your college search as early as possible.
