Bishops Gate Golf Academy junior Maria Hoyos is the LPGA’s next rising star. She has recently catapulted herself out of the top-200 in the Rolex Junior Golf Rankings and into the top-10. Maria is chasing her dream of attending college in the United States, and she’s using golf (quite well) to help her get there. But what will you find when you sit down and get to know her? Q: What do you enjoy doing the most?
A: Play golf and be with my family and friends.
Q: What is one of the toughest things about the experience at BGGA?
A: Being away from my family and friends has be a though experience but it has helped me to grow as a person. I have started to know more about me, my strengths and weaknesses. I have become a more mature and independent person.
Q: Do you remember the happiest moment of your life?
A: I don’t think I have a particular moment that I prefer. Be with my family and friends, play golf, do whatever creates passion in me, they all are the happiest moments in my life.
Q: What has been one of the biggest challenges for you?
A: Left my house in such a young age and faced a new country by myself. A place different in many aspects and adapt to it is not easy.
Q: What makes you smile?
A: My friends and family. Just the fact of being alive makes me smile everyday.
Q: How do you define yourself?
A: Committed, determined, happy and dreamer.
